We are pleased to announce the Village of Reminderville has a new Chief of Police. At the Council meeting held on April 14th Detective Lieutenant Marco Berquist was appointed Chief of Police by Mayor Sam Alonso and confirmed by a unanimous vote by the Village Council.
Chief Marco Berquist began his career working at the Village of Hiram Police Department in 2004 as a part time patrol officer. In February of 2005 Chief Berquist was hired by the Reminderville Police Department as a part time patrol officer. In August of that same year his status changed to full time patrol officer. After four years of working patrol he was appointed as the department’s detective in 2009 where he worked many different cases, which resulted in dozens of arrests ranging from low level misdemeanors to first degree felonies. His efforts in the detective bureau also resulted in recovering money and property for the victims of these crimes. In 2005 he was assigned to the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force on a part time basis, while still working for the department. In 2007 he tried out for and earned a position on the Valley Enforcement Groups S.W.A.T. team. In 2013 Chief Berquist was promoted to the position of Detective Sergeant. Four years later he was again promoted, this time to the position of Detective Lieutenant.
Congratulations to Chief Berquist and we look forward to the strong future this new leadership brings.
