General Duties: The Long-Term Community Development Committee shall prepare a set of written long-range planning recommendations for Council that will enhance the character and quality of life of the Municipality. The planning recommendations shall include standards or requirements for preserving and protecting the character and quality of life. These include open spaces, buffer zones and landscaping that minimizes objectionable noise, glare, odor, traffic and other impacts of future development, especially when adjacent to residential areas. An annual report shall be made to Council and made available to the public.
Composition and Term: The Long-Term Community Development Committee shall consist of six (6) members. They’ll ideally be representative of all segments of the City, consisting of the Mayor and five (5) residents. The residents shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by Council, and shall hold their position for a term of four (4) years except for some of the initial appointments on the effective date of the charter. In order to have staggered terms, one (1) of the initial members will serve for two (2) years, and two (2) of the initial members will serve for three (3) years. All appointments shall be made beginning no later than the first regular scheduled January meeting of Council.
