Kids Volunteer at the Pollinator Garden!

By Vicki Jeromos-Blayney, Communications Committee Chair

This summer some amazing Reminderville residents volunteered to help weed the Village pollinator garden on Glenwood Blvd.  The group consisted of moms, dads, neighbors, kids, and Girl Scouts!  Under the blazing sun and surrounded by some local critters, the group went to work making this garden a great stop for nectar and pollen for monarchs and pollinators.   Along with many insects, the group encountered caterpillars, snakes, and even a cute little bunny.  The garden is sure doing its job!  It may not be the prettiest garden, but it’s not meant to be.  It’s there to help pollinators like butterflies, bees, and beetles thrive throughout the year.  Birds also stop to enjoy winter seeds once the snow falls.  And thanks to the hard work of our volunteers we can make sure that the garden will continue to be a positive environment for many.

Thank you to Mayor Alonso for recognizing our young people for their efforts.  Mayor Alonso handed out certificates of appreciation, patches for the Girl Scouts, and a special gift certificate for ice cream!

The girls led everyone in our Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the Council meeting.

I am so proud to be a part of this community.
