Leaf pick -up

As you may or may not be aware, the leaf vacuum and branch chipping equipment are part of a shared services agreement.  Use of the equipment is scheduled in advance of the season and unfortunately limits the Service Department’s ability to react to the weather.  We are well aware that the microburst and subsequent snowfall in November/December resulted in leaves being left on the tree lawns of many homes.  Every time the temps are above 40 degrees we begin receiving calls about the leaves.  It must also be noted that the Service Department uses the same trucks to plow, chip, and vacuum leaves.  Unfortunately, the salt spreader is not compatible with hauling the leaf vac.  Therefore, once it begins snowing, we cannot collect leaves until spring.

The good news, in anticipation of the end of the snowy season the Service Department is planning to take two weeks to clean up any leaves or branches that were put out but not collected.  Pick-up is scheduled for the week of April 23 for leaf pick-up and the week of April 30 for branch pick-up.  Normal branch pick-up season starts the week of May 7.

Please do not mix the leaves and branches together as neither will be collected.  Also, do not move additional leaves and branches to the curb as they will not be collected.  As always, you are welcome to bag or bundle leaves/branches at any time and set them out for Kimble to collect.
