FAQ’s
Is the RAC ready to open?
-Yes! Life has changed and we are all adapting as best as we can. We’ve adjusted our procedures and offerings to reflect the Federal and State guidelines and information given to us. We’ve implemented the new social norms and more vigilante cleaning procedures, just as you probably have in your own life. We are excited to see our members and our plan to open in phases, while not popular with everyone, is our best effort to do it safely and responsibly. There is always a level of risk, you will have to determine the risk/benefit ratio that you are comfortable with.
What cleaning precautions is the RAC taking?
-The whole facility will have a professional deep sanitization cleaning before we open. We are following the CDC guidelines for maintenance procedures. We will have staff on the floor at all times with sanitizer spray to enhance frequency of cleaning and disinfecting as well as deep cleaning after closing time with EPA-approved disinfectants.
What cleaning practices should I use as a member?
-Wash your hands before and after you work out. Extend courtesy to fellow members by doing what you have (hopefully) always done: wipe down the equipment before and after each use. Spray bottles, towels, and wipes will be available for members to use so there is no reason to see anyone not wiping the equipment down.
Will my membership be extended due to the RAC shutdown?
-Yes. Memberships will have the total amount of days the RAC was closed added on to their committed time.
What about recurring accounts?
-Recurring payments have been frozen since March 17 and will be adjusted when you start back up.
What if I am not comfortable coming in yet?
-No problem. Your membership will activate when you are ready.
How are refunds being done for those who do not want to come back at all?
-We are happy to extend your membership when you are ready to come back, but we do not offer refunds.
What if someone tests positive for COVID-19 after they have been to the RAC?
-We expect members and staff to notify the RAC Director if they test positive for COVID-19 within two weeks of their last visit to the RAC. Because members have to scan in as they enter and exit, we are able to use our database for potential contact tracing.
Are kids allowed in?
-Right now, ages 16 and older are allowed inside the facility.
What about my little kids while I work out?
-Right now, ages 16 and older are allowed inside the facility. Tot Express is not available.
I do not want my temperature taken when I enter the RAC.
-For right now, touch-free temperature checks will be required upon each entry to the RAC. If your temperature is higher than 100.4˚F, you will be asked to return home.
Are you doing birthday parties?
-Not at this time. We will reevaluate in a few weeks.
Why isn’t the 24/7 area open 24/7?
-We are operating on limited hours right now to be sure we can monitor the facility and keep up with the CDC cleaning guidelines. We will get back to 24/7 access soon.
Do I have to wear a mask or gloves?
-It is not required for members. It is recommended by the CDC so you are free to wear them as you move throughout the RAC if it makes you more comfortable.
When will group fitness classes start?
-Group fitness classes are not available in Phase I of the reopening but we are in communications with our instructors and are looking to add limited capacity classes soon.
When can I play on the basketball courts? Volleyball courts? Badminton courts?
-The gym is not open right now. With social distancing guidelines and the need to limit the opportunity of spreading the virus through body-to-body contact, we will be slowly phasing in gym activities as we go through the summer.
I joined the RAC solely for the pool. When will it be open?
-The pool and splashpad area had to be renovated. It will be opening once it is fully operational.
Are lockers going to be available?
-Locker use is discouraged but there will be a limited number available to facilitate social distancing. It is recommended to come into the RAC in your workout clothes and shoes to reduce traffic in the locker rooms.
Do you have courtesy hours for disabled/senior citizens?
-We do not have anything scheduled at this time but we can add that if needed. Lunch time/early afternoon is normally a slow time at the RAC so it may be a good time for members to give additional space to those who need it.
Are there going to be time limits on the machines?
-We have reduced the number of some equipment available for use due to social distancing for right now. Be mindful of other members waiting to use machines or equipment. The RAC reserves the right to limit your time on a machine to 30 minutes, especially during peak times.
